Posture and Flexibility? What Is It! Posture and Flexibility or P&F is a collection of therapeutic muscle stretching exercises developed by Australian Kit Laughlin at the Australian National University. Our P&F courses teach you to become more flexible safely and efficiently, helps individuals enjoy a pain free and mobile lifestyle and can protect the body from athletic injuries. Over the weeks of the course you will learn the fundamentals of the contract /relax technique and how to apply this technique to the deep muscles of the hips, hamstrings, lower, middle and upper back, arms, shoulders, and neck. This knowledge if applied consistently should help you to become or remain pain free, flexible & supple in these areas for a lifetime. We have stretching exercises for every muscle in the body - even hands and feet!
Unique Features:Distinguishing features of P&F include the use of partial poses, partner assistance and the contract/relax technique. Partial poses are broken down simplified versions of more complex multi-joint positions seen for example in Yoga. As a consequence they are easier to perform, extremely safe and exceedingly effective because of the way in which specific muscle groups are precisely targeted. Partner assistance provides support (removing apprehension and the fear of injury), ensures correct alignment and performance of the techniques. The contract/relax technique is a neurological mechanism that literally doubles the gains in flexibility achieved compared to other approaches as well as increasing strength.
So who should do P&F? This technique is a must for people who: suffer neck and/or back pain; are involved in amateur or professional athletic/dance pursuits; just want to feel looser and more graceful; or want to keep stress levels under control. All of these are the right reasons to do P&F. The most important reason though, is that stretching the P&F way feels fantastic to do.
